For a period of time now, I have been waking up with headaches every day…fairly severe ones.   Don’t know why, but I started having headaches when I was 9 years old – but not daily.  I am familiar with headaches (and the differing degrees of pain.)  However, I have never gotten comfortable with them, and I doubt that I ever will.

This particular  morning, I focused on what I could find to be grateful about regarding these headaches:

  • I pray for God’s help (I’m relying on Him more.)
  • I thank God for helping me with the headaches for so many years (I’m praising Him.)
  • I ask Him to show me whether there’s some underlying stress I need to deal with (I’m asking for His guidance.)
  • I pray for others who are in pain (God is growing my compassion.)

This is a Bible verse that also comforts me:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
