I had to deliver some uncomfortable news to a friend the other day, and she did not respond well.  Although I know that I made the right decision to tell her the truth, I feel bad that I hurt her.  We are both angry, and I am faced with “what do I do now?  I need to forgive her even though I don’t want to.”

The book I’m reading now gives me some comfort, so I’m going to share a paragraph with you:

“Sometimes you are in a cave, and no human action is able to get you out.  There is something you can’t fix, can’t heal, or can’t escape, and all you can do is trust God.  Finding ultimate refuge in God means you become so immersed in His presence, so convinced of His goodness, so devoted to His lordship that you find even the cave is a perfectly safe place to be because He is there with you.”

I am in the cave of discouragement, but God is with me.
