About wrapping presents…is it becoming a lost art?  I have procrastinated this year in getting my Christmas gifts wrapped, but now I’m almost finished.

Gift bags seem to have become the norm, and certainly they are easier…  It would be interesting to know the Hallmark statistics about how their sales in rolls of wrapping paper have dropped.  Someday those may become totally obsolete.  Even my 5-year-old great niece notices when she gets a wrapped package instead of a gift bag.

I enjoy finding just the right gift for each person on my list.  My criteria is that it needs to be a surprise and something they wouldn’t buy for themselves.  The perfect gift can sometimes be elusive, but I like the challenge.

Then I wrap each gift with the prettiest wrapping paper I can find in their favorite color.  Making those big, beautiful bows has been my specialty for lots of years.  When they are handed the present, it is so much fun to see the look on their face.  Their expression says, “This one is for me?”  Then they usually say that it’s too pretty to unwrap.

But we all know that leaving a gift wrapped would just not be right.  So I encourage them to rip it open.

I think we all need to have things about the holidays that make it more fun for us.  Wrapping pretty presents is one of mine.

    • I share your sentiment, but I think if gift bags were not available, people would use those plastic grocery bags! And you even know some German!
